Camping trips are a major part of the Troop 309 adventure. We usually go on trips on a monthly basis. On our trips we’ve done exciting things like canoeing, rock climbing, caving, and skiing.  The scouts determine where the troop goes every year, so the campout offerings vary from year to year based on the ideas of the troop. In the summer, the newer scouts have the opportunity to go to summer camp and take part in activities such as swimming, rifle shooting, and sailing for a week. For the older members of the troop, we also schedule a High Adventure trip, which includes activities that are more physically and technically demanding than an average camping trip. Past destinations have included New York’s Adirondacks Mountains, Montana’s Glacier National Park, and BSA Sea Base in the Florida Keys.
